Search engine optimization (or SEO for short) is the art of getting your website to the top of the search rankings.
Why would you want to get to the top on Google? Why this could be the best investment you ever make in your website
and your busines?

  • Search engines are the way in which 90% of people locate the
internet resources they need and Google has a 75% market share in
Europe and North America. The Google brand is now rated as the
most powerful in the world and, within three years, the company is
expected to be the largest advertiser (by revenue) in the world. My
approach focuses on Google because it’s the most important, but
includes tips on other search engines where relevant.
  • 84% of searchers never make it past the bottom of page two of
Google and 65% of people never click on paid (or “sponsored”)
results. Being at the top of the nonpaid (or “organic”) search
results is a make-or-break mission for the modern business in a
world ever more dominated by the internet.
Searh Engine Optimization in Los Angeles, Hollywood, Beverly Hills

Having your site in the top 10 is like having your store right on Main Street or near the entrance of the largest shopping mall in human history. Being outside the top 20 is like having a corner store on the very outskirts of town. Your footfall in a major mall is massive, with people coming in and out of your store all the time. On the web, a top position on Google has just the same effect.

The keys are great product, sound service, niche focus, great content, and good search engine optimization or SEO – getting your site to the top of the search engine rankings.

We can’t help you much with the first four, but we can certainly help with the fifth.

Local businesses will benefit from Search Engine Optimization also.

There are three main search engines that consumers will use to find your services online – Google, MSN Live, and Yahoo. While it is clear that Google is the dominant player in the search engine market, both Yahoo and MSN are used regularly as well.

Each of these major search engines now has a “local map feature”. This map feature shows up at the top of the search results when people in your community search for certain businesses and services. These “local listings” contain a box of 10 local businesses that the search engine thinks is relevant to your specific location and request.

For example, if you go to www.Google.com and enter this search term: “Los Angeles Bakery”, you will notice that there are TEN total listings that appear on this map listing.
HOWEVER, there are certainly more than ten bakeries in the Los Angeles area!

It is fantastic that these businesses have at least registered themselves on these business map listings. However, if they are not showing up on the first page of the results, they are probably losing A LOT of business to the bakeries that are consistently showing up in the first ten map results.

But there are legitimate ways to improve your chances of showing up on that first page of “local map results”.
